The photo is from a farm in Southwest Virginia.  It was taken just before the sun set over the nearby mountains.  As the sun drops close to the horizon in the evening the light rays are bent differently from any other time of the day.  This casts a golden colored light over the landscape, making it a great time for photographs.

Apple trees, Malus domestica, belong to the same family as the rose bush (Rosaceae).
